Pamukkale, Türkiye

Pamukkale, located in southwestern Turkey, is a mesmerizing natural wonder renowned for its striking terraces and mineral-rich thermal waters. The name “Pamukkale” translates to “Cotton Castle” in Turkish, which accurately describes the cascading white terraces formed over thousands of years by calcium deposits from the flowing hot springs.

The mineral-rich waters, known for their therapeutic properties, attract visitors from all around the world. The dazzling white travertine terraces, resembling cotton-covered slopes, create an otherworldly landscape, making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Apart from the terraces, Pamukkale is also home to the ancient city of Hierapolis, which was founded in the 2nd century BC and became an important Roman and Byzantine settlement. The well-preserved ruins, including theaters, temples, and necropolises, provide a fascinating glimpse into the past.
